- A West Coast of Florida Native, Capt. Derek Dormois is one of the best and youngest captains in the beautiful Clearwater/Dunedin area. Capt. Derek has been fishing these waters for as long as he can remember, and will ensure an excellent day on the waters he calls home. His passion for fishing and the environment goes beyond being an established inshore guide, as he graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology in the fall of 2023. The process to becoming an inshore guide was a unique one for Capt. Derek as nobody in his family had ever been interested in fishing, so it's ironic this is the profession he found himself in! Capt. Derek also loves taking kids fishing, he has been coaching youth baseball for the past 5 years and enjoys giving back to the sport that he played for 14 years while growing up. Overall, Capt. Derek has a devotion to helping people catch fish which is ultimately why he got into the charter/guide industry. Whether you are a novice, expert, or anything in between, he’s got you covered!
