We had a wonderful day on the Mad Marlin. Captain Andres and his mate thought of everything. Andres patiently explained all of the options and helped us choose the best for our family trip. He had plenty of delicious snacks, fruits, sandwiches, and drinks for the day. We were able to see dolphins jumping and playing in front of the boat, sea turtles, and even a sea snake! But the highlight of the day was that every person in the family caught a fish! We caught two beautiful sailfish, a couple of tuna and a couple of bonitas. The day could not have been more perfect. We would definitely book with Andres again and hope to come back soon!

My husband and I went out with Andres and Diego from the Marriott Los Sueños on January 22. We had the best time! From the time of initial booking, Andres was communicative and thorough. We texted via whats app and he told us exactly what to expect and had prompt responses to questions we had. He asked us for our lunch orders and gave us clear instructions for getting picked up from our hotel. The pick up from the hotel was a breeze! Andres texted us right on time and we knew who to look out for for the pickup - we were shuttled in just under a minute to his boat, where we were cheerfully greeted and offered pastries and drinks. The boat is small, but very comfortable and we had no issue. I was able to nap in the cabin and get out of the sun. The cabin is used for storage, but has cushioned benches and a small fan - perfect escape from the sun! My husband and I relaxed while Diego got everything set up for a great day of fishing. Andres told us the forecast was so-so, but he kept in touch with other boats and tried to find good spots. My husband caught his first sailfish and I caught a big dorado. Diego got the sailfish in the boat and Andres took lots of pictures on his phone (photos on this review are sub par because my husband has them from Andres on his phone. Photos posted here are from my phone). What a thrill! We kept on, had some lunch, and waited for our next bite! The guys were so helpful in getting the fish in the boat and Andres was a master photographer - he sent my husband all of the photos the same evening and we love them! We had a wonderful time on the boat, great music, great people, and plenty of snacks and two great catches! When we got back to the resort, Diego filleted my dorado and we proudly paraded up to store the 20ish pounds of dorado fillets in our mini fridge! There are a number of restaurants that will prepare your catch for you - we took one bag full of fillets to Juanita’s in Jaco Walk and were thrilled with the preparations for $18.50 per person plus tax. The second night, we had the Hacienda Kitchen at the Marriott prepare the fish and it was also delicious! I wish we were in town longer to keep eating the delicious fish!

We cannot recommend Andres highly enough. He was such a delight and we were thrilled with our catch and experience! There is no reason to look anywhere else for a charter in the area!!

Fishing was tough but the captain and mate persevered and we managed a nice mahi-mahi and my wife got to fight a blue marlin….briefly.  Great day with great attitudes

The crew on the mad marlin was excellent. They went above and beyond for customer service starting with prior coordinations days before the trip was suppose to take place. All expectations were met and far exceeded. Great day on the water with some great fish in the cooler!
