We had an amazing day fishing with Hidalgo Sportfishing! While getting on the boat was a bit chaotic due to security at the dock (they didn’t speak English, and directions weren’t very clear), once we were on the boat, everything went smoothly. The crew worked hard the entire trip to get us on fish while we relaxed. In addition to the great fishing effort, they provided excellent sandwiches, plenty of drinks, great company, and fresh fruit snacks throughout the day. To top it all off, they let us snorkel and relax at the end of the trip — a perfect way to wind down after a fun day on the water.
The only downside was that I wasn’t super satisfied with the pictures taken of our catch, and I felt a bit rushed to get the fish back in the water. But at the end of the day, we’re there to fish, not to take photos. Overall, I’d highly recommend Hidalgo Sportfishing for anyone looking for a top-notch fishing adventure in Costa Rica!

my friends and i were visiting costa rica and wanted to go fishing and this charter met all of our expectations and then some! the crew was extremely friendly and skilled at their job, they had drinks, snacks and even fresh fruit! we chose the 5 hour offshore trip so we started by catching live bait and then went further off shore and caught multiple fish! after we were done fishing we even got to go to an amazing snorkeling spot and see all sorts of beautiful fish! if you’re visiting quepos and want to go fishing, don’t hesitate to book this charter i promise it wont disappoint!

Hidalgo Sportfishing gave me one of the best fishing experiences of my life. From start to finish, this was a white glove, top-tier trip. I came in with a dream list — mahi-mahi, triple tail, snapper — we landed every single one, and then some.

From the moment we set out, the crew was dialed in. Big shoutout to Jose, Mike, and Jeff — these guys made the trip not only successful but genuinely enjoyable. They knew where to go, how to work the lines, and were all-around great company.

Best fishing charter in Costa Rica!

Great 1/2 day trip with Mike and Jose. Caught tons of Amber Jacks, Crevalle Jacks blue and rainbow runners. Probably 20 fish in all. Great instruction for those who need it, all the gear we needed. Plenty of snacks and drinks. They even filleted some of our catch and recommendation and a good restaurant (Tentaction) in Quepos to cook it .Highly recommend it!

They were great and super friendly. Being our first time fishing, they did all of the difficult tasks for us and taught us what to do. We caught 3 mahi mahi, 2 bonito, and 1 yellow fin tuna. I really wanted to see whales, catch a marlin/sail fish for pictures, and mahi mahi to cook. They spent the first few hours trying their hardest to find the marlin/sail fish but we were unable to find one. To make up for this, they let us stay a little longer until we were content with the other fish that we caught. We did see whales from a distance, and had plenty of fish that we were planning to eat. They provided us some very delicious and much needed snacks, drinks, and pineapple. We listened to music the whole time, and they pointed out lots of different things in the water like turtles and fish. At the end they prepared the fish for us to conveniently take home, and we had some of the best meals in our life at a “catch and cook” restaurant that they also recommended.
