Jose and Esteban were the best! From the moment we got on the boat we knew it was going to be a good day. They were clear with our plans for the day, and how to maximize our time on the water. The bite was slow but we still had action all day. Through out the day the ensured that we were comfortable and had plenty to eat and drink. And above all I can thank them enough for getting me on a beautiful Rooster Fish! I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a Costa Rican fishing adventure. Pura Vida!

La sortie de pêche a été un moment exceptionnel, les garçons ont adoré, les deux capitaines étaient géniaux, dans le partage, la gentillesse et l’envie de faire plaisir. Les garçons ont pêché plusieurs types de poissons grâce a diverses techniques de pêche que le personnel d’équipage leur a montré. À midi, nous avons pu manger le thon que mon fils avait pêché dans un restaurant de Quepos, c’était super. De plus, il y avait des boissons et des snacks sur le bateau. A 11h nous avons pu manger un ananas frais, un régal. Je recommande vivement cette sortie.

Hidalgo Fishing delivered exactly the experience I was hoping for—and then some. From the very beginning, communication was excellent, making everything simple and stress-free. The harbor was easy to find, parking was safe, and the entire operation felt professional, organized, and welcoming. The boat was clean, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a day on the Pacific. The captain and mate were outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. They had us catching live sardines quickly and prepared with plenty of bait to maximize our time on the water. Once we reached our second spot, the action started immediately. While the roosterfish I was hoping for never showed up, the ocean still delivered with plenty of fresh tuna—more than enough to enjoy for days. The conditions were perfect, the fish were biting, the drinks and snacks kept coming, the music was on point, and the entire day had that unmistakable Pura Vida energy. But what made this day unforgettable was more than the fishing. It was the combination of being out on the open ocean, surrounded by incredible scenery, great people, and that rare feeling of being completely present in the moment. Hidalgo Fishing was the perfect way to close out my Costa Rican adventure. Some moments are impossible to capture with a camera—the sound of the waves, the excitement of the bite, the laughter, the feeling of the ocean breeze, and the memories created along the way. Captain Jose and First Mate Esteban absolutely made our trip phenomenal - they’re a top notch fishing team and even better as people. We had a slower start to the morning, but these guys worked tirelessly to track down the bite, and it paid off big with some Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna. Their knowledge and positive energy turned what could’ve been a tough day into a memorable one. On top of that, they cleaned our tuna right there on the boat and whipped up some of the best sashimi my wife and I have ever had, fresh off the line. If you’re looking for a charter out of Quepos, do yourself a favor and book with Hidalgo Sport Fishing. Jose and Esteban are the best of the best, and we can’t wait to fish with them again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Captain Jose and mate Greiban are the real deal. My wife and I booked Hidalgo Sportfishing specifically to chase sailfish, and they delivered in a big way — we landed 4! These two are as friendly, knowledgeable, and professional as it gets. You can tell immediately that they know these waters inside and out. Don’t let the boat’s appearance fool you compared to some of the flashier charters in the area — it has everything you need and then some. But honestly, the boat is secondary. The captain and mate are the difference-maker, and I believe they could out-fish anyone operating in the area. My wife and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If we’re ever back in the area, we’re not even bothering to look at other charters. Hidalgo Sportfishing is our first and only call. Highly recommend without hesitation.

captain and first mate were top notch. Ive taken guided trips in Florida, Texas, Alaska, California, and Boston — and i put him at the top. why? hes relaxed, flexible, hard working, good with kids, and wants to put you on fish. he allowed me to bring my own tackle, and i appreciated his flexibility in tailoring the trip exactly as i requested. we had 4 kids along, and we caught so many fish they got tired of reeling them in. The best part of the day for me personally was taking a 118” sailfish with a travel rod and a 3500 reel. it was a spectacular day we will never forget. i cannot thank Captain enough. he is truly special at what he does and truly cares about your experience on the water.

The weather wasn't perfect, but Jose and Chubby made the the day!!! We caught eight yellow fin tuna. Chubby fillet all the fish and made some sashimi with fresh pineapple , what a great snack! The boat was loaded with fresh drinks and water and the crew always acted very professional. It was very easy to communicate with the crew, and I picked up a lot of knowledge. Jose also arranged for me to have my fish packed for travel to bring back to the US. You got to try these guys!!!

Fuimos en familia alentado por uno de mis hijos fanatico de la pesca, y fue una experiencia inolvidable, fuimos en la mañana en la modalidad inshore. pescamos todos aunque no tuvieramos experiencia gracias a la pericia del Capitan Tito Hidalgo, una persona increible que en todo momento nos hizo sentir seguros y felices. El tamaño de los peces es ENORME !! fue la actividad familiar mas divertida que tuvimos, junto con otro dia de rafting. MUY Recomendable !!!

This was easily one of the best fishing experiences I’ve ever had. The two-man crew was outstanding — knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely friendly from start to finish. They knew exactly where to go, how to read the water, and worked incredibly well together. Their expertise showed immediately when we started hooking fish. Within a few hours, I had crossed two major bucket-list species off my list: two beautiful sailfish and over a dozen mahi mahi. The sailfish fights were spectacular — exactly what I’d hoped for. The crew’s coaching and quick action on the boat made sure I landed both of them safely. The mahi mahi bite was nonstop at times, and the colors on these fish are just insane in person. We had constant action, laughs, and perfect weather to top it all off. Everything was top-notch: the boat was clean and well-equipped, the tackle was high-quality, and the crew made sure I felt safe and comfortable the entire day. They were prepared for some epic photos for me too. If you’re thinking about going fishing in Costa Rica, book this charter without hesitation. My family and I did the 5 hour inshore trip. The crew members were very kind and considerate, allowing us to do the fishing ourselves, rather than reeling in the fish for us. They also provided plenty of fresh pineapple, water, soda and beer. I speak both english and spanish and my family only speaks english, they made the experience perfect allowing engaging conversations in both languages. We caught and kept a mackerel and a baracuda and they gave us recommendations on how to cook both after showing us how to cut and clean both fish. We also caught and released some needle fish for fun. I totally recommend Hidalgo Sport Fishing!
