My trip yesterday was with my repeat customers from Michigan. They come to Tampa every year to enjoy fun in the sun, fishing with Reel Therapy Fishing Charters and.....oh yeah the Detroit Tiger's! Yesterday met them with light breezes and 85 degree temperatures. We started our day looking for redfish, after checking a few spots we changed gears and headed to secure dinner. In less than an hour we landed six beautiful trout, two measuring over 23". They decided to invite four trout home for dinner. We discussed our options and decided to make a move to some catch and release snook. After a short boat ride we put the Power Poled down and sent out our first baits. It wasn't long before we had our first hit, unfortunately this snook ran off over 25 yards of line and broke us off on a dock piling. For the better part of an hour we hooked and lost about ten snook that we could not slow down, each one of them either broke us off on a dock or wore through the leader after a long battle. We did get the best of about five snook, the biggest being around 30". With sore arms, snook thumb and big smiles we decided to call it a day. These are the trips that make being a charter captain the most enjoyable job there is! Until next year.........!

Had another great day on Tampa Bay today. Aboard were a few of my great repeat customers, and their friends. They wanted to see what all the Reel Therapy Fishing Charters hype was all about. Everyone found comfortable seating aboard the Ranger as we took a short boat ride to a productive trout flat. We started landing small trout and moving around the flat until we located some upper slot sized fish. We landed 5 upper slot trout before we decided to moved on to snook. We took a short boat ride to a creek mouth and set up at the edge of a deep hole. We had to reposition the Ranger a few times before we started absolutely crushing big snook! We landed over 40 snook, the biggest measuring over 30", 34", 36", and approximately 40"! We also got absolutely schooled by a huge snook we couldn't even slow down, after a 5 minute battle she finally broke us off in the mangrove trees. We then moved on to redfish, we landed a few smaller redfish before landing a perfect tournament sized fish measuring 26 3/4"! We also landed two more really nice snook before we decided to call it a day. More exceptional fishing in the middle of January on Tampa Bay!

Today's trip was with four friends and teammates of a college baseball team. Like most athletes and friends everything has to be a competition. Bets were placed on most fish and biggest fish. After catching speckled trout, silver trout, rat redfish, and small snook faster than we could count, I decided to add in the category of inshore slam. The inshore slam consists of an angler catching a snook, redfish and trout. You measure each fish, and add the inches together for the total length of the slam. Here is today's biggest snook, he also won the slam with 26" snook, 18" redfish and 16" trout. For a total of 60"! Pretty good numbers for the middle of January! Got a call from a regular customer who asked if I could accommodate her and her grandson on an afternoon fishing/boating trip. I told her we could do that and better. We had the end of the incoming tide and beginning of the outgoing tide. This would present us with a great opportunity to target snook, redfish and trout. We met at 1pm and took a little boat ride and arrivied at a small flat that has been holding fat trout and nice redfish. We fished this area for no less than 10 minutes before we hook a nice 19" trout. We barely get this fish released before we hook into a big over slot redfish that measured over 28"! We land a few more nice trout before the outgoing tide stops. We take another ride to a secret deep water trough that redfish and snook have been hiding in during recent low tides. We arrive at the trough and almost immediately start hooking snook, we catch 5 or 6 snook and then catch another nice 25" redfish. We reposition the boat to take advantage of the higher water and continue to catch snook, trout and redfish for the next hour. We end up with over 40 snook, 10 trout and 4 redfish. On our ride back to the boat ramp my client complains of a sore wrist from all the fish she caught, but says her 4 inshore slams more than makes up for it!

I had the privilege of taking a group of boys out for a fishing trip for one of their birthdays. Aboard I had four boys one of their fathers and their grandfather. We discussed our fishing options and decided to keep the rods bent for the duration of our 4hr trip. We started by targeting trout and redfish, we landed a couple smaller redfish and a few slot sized trout. We decided to make a move to target snook. As soon as we arrived we began catching snook. We landed over 50 snook over the next couple hours. We made one more move to try for some bigger redfish, we had a couple on but they pulled the hook. We also landed a couple more snook and another nice trout in this spot. We fished in 80 degree weather which is great for the end of December. The bite is about as good as it gets for winter, this should continue until our weather cools. Book your trip now to get in on this great fishing.

Had a few clients out for a day of fishing on Saturday. They were in town to take in the Buccaneers vs Packers game. They decided to check out what Tampa Bay fishing was all about. We started our day targeting trout while we waited for the tide to come in. We landed over 20 trout in less than an hour. We then decided to try to target redfish on docks since the tide wasn't high enough to target them on the flats. We managed a few small redfish, but I knew there were much bigger ones to be had. We fished a few docks before we put the Ranger on plane and headed to the flat I knew was holding bigger redfish. Once we arrived it wasn't long before we landed our first redfish, a nice 25" fish. Over the next hour we landed over 10 redfish ranging from 25" to the biggest one, an 30 inch and over 9lb fish! We also landed 6 snook, biggest one being 27", what a great day, I'm pretty sure that Tampa Bay did not disappoint them.
