Came down to Galveston for long weekend and wanted to take my son fishing before he went back to college. After some research decided on Reel Smooth Guide Service and boy am I glad I did! Capt. Mike was knowledgable, patient, and obviously well prepared.  After meeting him at the ramp we were off and within minutes arrived at an area he had scouted and thought the fish would be biting that morning. As my son had never fished this way before Capt. Mike explained the proper technique and before we knew it my son put four trophy trout in the boat! Add to that a 40 Lb. + redfish he caught after an epic fight which we released and it added up to one of the best days on the water I have ever had and will always remember. Have to thank Capt.Mike for making all this possible. Best guide I have ever fished with and will make plans to book another trip with him as soon as time allows!

It was a father and son outing and we had a great time.  I know many of you who may read this may think this is a bit of hype - that is NOT the case.  Mike was absolutely great.  Affable, communicative, and accommodating.  After we limited, Mike was fine to take us to some other spots, quite easy to work with and a bit humorous to boot.  Besides these words, my highest compliment is that I will be going out with Mike again, and probably again and again.

Met Capt. Mike at 6am for a day of fishing, 3 of us, my son and grandson. Right away I felt the passion that Capt Mike had for his craft, which was catching fish and teaching us how. I couldn’t help but feel his excitement as soon as we got to the jetties where he told us his how the fish feed up and down the jetties and the fight was on. Capt. Mike was always right there making sure we had bait on and fishing. I really liked the way Capt. Mike paid close attention to my grandson, making sure he had a great time. It wasn’t long we had our limit on red fish, so we headed to fish trout. I could go on and on about our day with Capt. Mike but to sum it up it was exciting and so much fun. I would advise you to have your own adventure and book a trip with him. We are already planning another trip this year and wouldn’t call anyone else. The boat was top notch, the equiptment was super. We didn’t have to spend time looking for the spot to fish because he had the day planned out before we got there and I liked that. Capt Mike cleaned, filleted, bagged and iced down our catch at the end of our trip. Give Capt. Mike a call, don’t settle for just anyone, he truly is an experienced, honest, knowledgeable fishing guide. Happy Fishng!!!!!

Booked a morning trip with Captain Mike Meza for a bay fishing trip on 5/14/2016. It was a Birthday gift for my 9yr old son.  We arrived at 5:15 am to Texas City dike 15 minutes early and found that Mike was already in the water with bait ready to go. His boat is awesome 26’ Majek with 300 HP Yamaha. We scooted accross the channel in the dark to dift some reefs. It was just getting light on our first drift and my 9 yr son landed a 5.5# Spec. We made another 3 or 4 drifts landing 5-6 quality fish per drift. Then the wind shifted and conditions changed Mike put us right back on the fish and we made another 3 or 4 drifts. We ran into slack tide and decided to move over to another reef. The bite turned off but Mike had us free swim some croakers and we landed a couple more quality trout. We had 25 nice trout in the box and decided to call it a morning even though Mike was willing to keep working for us. Can’t speak enough about his great personality and patience with my two sons and the challenges they present to a captain. I know first hand, it was nice to have someone else bait hooks, untangle lines, and reels for a change. We loaded the boat and he cleaned our fish and we will have a nice fish fry Memorial day with about 12#s of filets.

My son and I were to go out April 2nd with Captain Mike and the winds were blowing so he was able to switch our trip to Sunday.  Caught a lot of fish, Jigging off the bottom around the Jetty’s, or what I call the rocks.  We caught every species, (Sheephead, Drum, Red Fish, 1 other)  except a Trout, almost a grand slam.  Had fun with a sting ray that we cut the line at the boat.  Wanted to catch a shark and captain Mike put out crab bait but nothing.  We kept enough fish for dinner and for Captain Mike and released more than we kept.  He cleaned the fish and bagged it.  He recommended a restaurant “Top Water Grill” where they will cook your catch, blackened, almond crusted, and fried.  The blackened was excellent.  We had a fun experience Jetty Fishing on the Gulf.
