Jason let us know that this time of year there were many more smaller fish in the lake. We caught quite a few small ones, but had many larger catches to take home as well. We really didn't care as it was just fun catching the fish!

So according to captain Ryan, fish are shallower than normal at this time of year due to spawning season. We fished in waters right along the bank less than 4 feet deep and the maximum depth we fished at another location was 10-12 feet.

For an old man and little boy I think we chose the right time of day (morning.) might not have been quite as enjoyable in the July afternoon heat.

Have patience and trust the Capt, there are soooo many tricks… and when they bite (and they will)… you are in for a treat!!

Go during the week if you can, less boat traffic. Lake Conroe is a very busy lake on weekend's during the summer.
