What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cole Bay, Sint Maarten for the first time?

We were a little disappointed in the unwillingness of the local restaurants to cook our catch? Citing "legal concerns". I've fished in several Caribbean countries and never ran into this. Fortunately, we had a grill at the resort so the local businesses lost revenue.

It was a hot sunny day, the seas were a little rough. My husband and I were fine, but if you get the slightest bit of seasickness, make sure you take something before you venture off. we did bring snacks, I’m glad we did, I’m not sure what it is about being on the water, but it always makes us both hungry. But do not bring bananas, they are a no-no on fishing boats.? make sure you wear your sunscreen, have a hat and a long sleeve shirt. If you have to pee, be prepared to do it in a bucket… Don’t worry, nobody looks. The other nice thing about this charger is that it was just my husband, myself, and the captain. it was like our own private trip!!! can’t wait to go back! The Captain wasn’t prepared with the appropriate bait not even rubber baits. He wanted to fish with a piece of wood what a joke and then he said he had something personal to do so we had to leave earlier how is that our problem if we paid for 4 hours. Very unprofessional. We should get a refund I don’t recommend. With wood we were never going to catch anything.

If you are bringing children I would say 12 and up, watch seas and make sure they have natural patches on for seasickness. Fishing was ok but all around I have heard it has been a tough season. I personally would go out regardless as I love day on water

Make sure you can all fish at the same time. Not taking turns because they didn't have enough gear for all or a boat to handle it.

If it’s windy, there will be swells. They are manageable, but if you have a weak stomach, take Dramamine.

September is a little too hot. There was a breeze occasionally that helped but be ready to hydrate constantly because you are sweating pretty profusely.
