What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Lake City, Pennsylvania for the first time?

Suggest aiming for the summer months. The weather was good when we went only because Captain Larry recommended we go out on Saturday (calmer water) instead of Sunday (the original book date). He told us the weather around lake Erie is more pleasant in the summer months and can be less predictable starting mid August into the Fall.
