I over the past 30 years have fished nearly every spot on this lake. I said fished not caught. But I have a high success rate and lots return customers, now close friends. I have seen the other side of this earth while a soldier, swabby in the USN. I have seen lots my old friend pass to be free of worries and pain. I have seen lots of my younger friends pass on, and hopefuly in the heavens! I have seen great years and bad years, but still running like a child, well maybe fast walk! But recently I have developed problems, a large melanoma in my back! It has been removed, but in this hot weather I cant keep it dry! I am going to take a little time off and block about a month or two, to recover completely! I appreciate all my customers but this is something I need to do if I am going. keep the “old man out”! I will return when my back issues are healed! So see ya in the fall if I see ya at all!”

My latest career, since I was. In the Navy and loved my job and water, I later after my careers became a guide on Lake Texoma! I have been a guide on this lake for 30 years! If I don’t have a trip I still go out fishing . I am or will soon be 83. That’s little old but with great experiences! I won’t quit now, although many setbacks ! I am a Veteran of the Vietnam War. I did not seek action as I joined the Navy! Loved it and should have stayed longer! But after my business career with ATSF Railroad I went fishing! The last couple years have been the hardest with the extreme heat in summer! Pick Spring or Fall. I have the same boat since 94, and catch as many fish as those younger guys with the long boats, maybe more! I go fish every day even if I don’t have a trip. I have two boats now. This day was unique in that with all heat. We still pretty well! Great bunch of family who take it as it is, and didn’t expect a miracle from the guide! Its getting so hot, they are letting water out, and this will effect the bite! As long as it stay this hot, the fishing will suffer! I recomend fall now since fishing is hard to predict! Bait not working, maybe for little fish, but not your usual lake texoma Striper fishing! I troll and get few bigger fish but not what I would really like to see now! Your call….JD
