The Tuna have officially arrived.

It has been a very quiet winter as far as Tuna goes. We have just completed our refit of twin XTO425 engines. Vida Loca has to be the most powerful sport fish boat in South Africa! Its wild! All through out the world there have been massive fuel price increases. Where we are , fuel price is expected to go up even more. With this said we have had to increase our rates accordingly. We are expecting October November 2022 to be a great season for Yellow Fin Tuna. From February we should have some big Marlin traveling through and as well as a good tuna run up until April. The fishing , west out of Hout Bay this time of year so far has been spectacular. Water temperatures of 17 -21 degrees , electric blue waters. Still reports of some Marlin around but we have been fully focused on the tuna. 8am ten minutes into trawling the owner hooked into a massive 102kg big eye tuna. It marked at 45m and took on the center line. Was a great way to start the day. After speaking to the captain of a net trawler and politely asking him what time he would be pulling up, we circled a few times and waited. After ten minutes of him pulling his net, I went about 10 degrees to his star board aft, saw some great marks and started putting some bait in the water....the rest of the day we were fish on! Breaching fish next to the boat and taking lines like ive been dying to sea again. Incredible! We will not forget this day for a lone time to come.
