Hout Bay to Cape Point Seafari

A SEAFARI it was! We set out before first light with our new customer Allan.T. Sean (One of the best crew we know) and myself were on Vida Loca the day before and decided to rig up super light tackle with some added tricks. As we neared cape point we saw birds in the distance and headed straight for them. We were all delighted to encounter a school of 600 + friendly common bottle nose dolphins. Some decided to 'hitch a ride' on our bow wake for a mile or so. We saw a sharp dorsel fin tear through the surface that left a huge foot print! A Brydes whale was hunting pilchards or anchoy. This was a great sign for us. We stayed way clear of her and headed back on route towards Cape Point. On route we navigated multiple blows of Humpback Whales. The Humpbacks behaviors from a distance excited everyone onboard. Especially the large splashes of multiple breaches and head slapping. As the water temp warmed up, the Turns, white chinned pectrals and shearwaters directed us straight to the fish. We spent the whole morning catching multiple yellow tail, katonkel and the odd Ship Jack. At one stage we had another Brydes whale swoop past about ten meters away while we were on a fish! We fast became the target of multipe seals that followed us for an easy meal. We lost about for fish to them. Although extremely frustrating, we know that we are mearly a guest and they are the hosts, being taxed to them is part of nature. As a leading vessel in the fleet of charter boats in Cape Town, we often will invite juniors onboard as stand by crew. Ollie, from the #houtbayharbourcleanup was kindly offered a rod by our customer with a giant yellow tail on the end of it! Ollie's first fish was a good fight but unfortunatly lost it right at the side of the boat. Was a good fight on super light tackle!. As a group call, we cruised home at a comfortable 18knots all satisfied and chuffed. I decided to give our new XTO425 Yamahas a bit of a squirt for the first time, you will have to join us to understand the thrill! Comming home along Capmans Peak is always a treat for the eyes. When we arrived home to Hout Bay, our new customers regrouped over a few drinks at The Look Out restuarant. We sent fish through for the kitchen to have the chef to cook up. The pictures tell more than words I have. Great Day, Best Crew, Super Nice Customers, Awsome Boat! The Fishing Booker team always on stand by for you. @captainjbw 'The boat and crew that you choose to go to sea with will make a huge impact on the quality of your experience'.
