The big trout have been hungry this week. The Salmon are scattered all over but more and more showing up daily. Biggest trout of the year came this week measuring 34”(master angler certificate and patch will be coming to that angler) and weighing in at over 16lb!

The big trout have been hungry this week. The Salmon are scattered all over but more and more showing up daily. Biggest trout of the year came this week measuring 34”(master angler certificate and patch will be coming to that angler) and weighing in at over 16lb!

The Salmon have found their way back to northern waters! After a cold spring the Kings and some coho are showing up in some decent numbers.

The lake trout trolling bite has been steady. Water temps are still very cool in the GT Bays Traverse City(48-52degree surface temp, low 40’s just under the surface) but the Lakers and Cisco have been cruising and starting to chase those trolling baits much better. UV spoons, cowbells with spin n glows and spin doctors with whirly gigs all producing nice fish.

The inland lakes are on fire for largemouth bass and northern pike. Its post-spawn now and the fish have recovered and feeding heavily again. Casting body baits, spinners and jigs have been best. The smallmouth are on spawning beds on most inland lakes right now but there will still be some good activity post-spawn for a short window.

The jigging is great right now on the big water. Lake trout and Cisco are on fire in the 45-100FOW with the watwr temperature still very cold. Smallmouth bass have moved up pre-spawn and are anywhere from 5-30FOW.
