Marlin My Darlin Sportfishing Fishing Report
Hold the Turkey, prefer Mahi-Mahi please
November 26, 2020
First let me clarify that I'll stick with the traditional turkey. That is actually what my wife says, and I have made the prudent decision to follow suit with her thinking. But we have had some good Mahi-Mahi catches and there are those who will indeed be having the same conversation with their other half, as it has been mentioned in conversation with our anglers. Some good Mahi-Mahi catches as I mentioned and a few Sails and other species (like that nice Grouper pictured), but catches have varied and nothing is written in stone as all fishermen are aware. But the fishing has been decent for the most part, so we'll call it aware, not painfully aware. Best fishing continues within two miles offshore. Weatherman threw us a bit of a curve as the chop is more than forecast, but it is certainly very fishable. Tight lines and we'll see you on the rip. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I like the white meat, wife likes the dark, Still a good match after 25 years, fish dinner on Friday. Sunny skies once again and fishing and c

Gone is all the evil wind and wet weather. Quite the prolonged situation of what seemed forever to be never ending wind and squally weather that is thankfully behind us now. Just finished up essentially three post card perfect days in a row for our fishing charters in Ft. Lauderdale, and we have been fortunate to fish every one of them. Strong showing of Mahi-Mahi of decent size and best of all about a mile off the beach in water just over 100 feet of depth. We had hoped for this with all the brisk onshore wind and smiles all around as the fishing was as we had hoped. Aggressive hungry Mahi-Mahi so near shore is a jackpot. In the mix were some good sized Kings and a few Bonito, Tuna and once again those larger sized Barracudas. Nice Jacks on the wrecks. Good fishing , good weather, and good fun. Please enjoy the photos of our recent anglers here @ Marlin My Darlin and remember the best way to contact us is always our cell @ 954-778-8173 with inquiries and questions. Please always reach us direct at that same number to reserve your Fort Lauderdale fishing charter aboard Marlin My Darlin as we prefer to handle all calls in house. Tight lines and good fishing to all, see you on the rip.
Early November fishing in Fort Lauderdal
November 6, 2020
November is a welcomed time frame here as # 1: The light at the end of the tunnel really isn't a train, but the end of Hurricane season just a few weeks away!! and #2: Slightly cooler days and interesting opportunities fishing in Fort Lauderdale. With the chance for cooler days there also comes the chance for windy days, and Mother Nature has socked us squarely on the chin with too much breeze to fish for three days now. Itchy. Fishermen like to fish, and not being able to fish is similar to......you fill it in, I was leaning toward three days in a dentist's chair, but you might have an even better one. November will have small schools of Mahi-Mahi way in tight in water from 30 to 50 feet of depth aggressively working schools of Ballyhoo. Sailfish will not hesitate to get right in there tight as well. Tunas, Bonito, Kings within a mile and a half of the beach as lots of bait in the Ft. Lauderdale fishing area now and find the bait, find the fish is universal. Amberjacks and also a few Groupers on the wrecks and good sized Jack Crevalles running the beach and hanging out around shallow water wrecks. Loads of bite sized Bonito will be around, chocolate cake to big Wahoo. November is fun and enjoy the pictures of recent anglers with this report. Tight lines, see you on the rip. Rick
Birthday fishing charters in Ft. Lauderd
October 14, 2020
Continued warm here with showers a possibility on many of our charters here in Ft. Lauderdale. This is typical as we have said previously for our weather now. Soon enough we will be hoping for more of the showers we are seeing now. They say you cannot get too much of a good thing, and in South Florida rain is welcomed for the good of the land and water tables and......so forth. Well, we are looking for the pause button, a bit more sun please from the big guy. We all know the fish don't care, already wet as well have also said before. And they do bite well sometimes in weather, and we don't mind that many times. But here's to a bit more clear blue skies and sunny mornings. Actually the forecast looks better for the coming week. As Patrick Mc. Says “right on right on”. Catches remain similar to our last report and the bulk of our catches remain to be taken in water within 2 miles of shore, often inside of that. Tunas, Wahoos, Kings, Bonitos, Some Mahi and Sails a possibility on all charters. Photos with this report are all about Suzy. Suzy joined us here aboard Marlin My Darlin for a half day birthday charter celebrating her 10th. We fish a good number of children's birthday charters, and most of the kids bring their parents along too, just like Suzy. Good family fun. See you on the rip.
Good catches and good people add up to

Pictured below are some of our recent catches and the anglers who joined us here for a fishing charter in Ft. Lauderdale aboard our Marlin My Darlin boats. A diverse group anglers as of late with familes, friends, a business meeting charters and even a bachelor party. I'm often mentioning a mixed bag when relating to current catches, and this report covers again various species caught by very varied anglers. Some folks brand new to deep sea fishing, and others with many days on the water. So it's been some good catches and certainly a good time interacting with the diverse group of anglers we have carried offshore. So here we go with the updated fishing report. Wrecks are holding good sized Amberjacks, and some fine Black Groupers have hit the ice. Kings, Bonito (False Albacore) and Blackfin Tuna. Mahi-Mahi have moved closer to shore recently. Big Sharks like the very large Tiger Shark included in the photos with this report. The Barracudas are inhabiting several of the inshore wrecks off shore of Ft. Lauderdale and Holywood in impressive numbers and many are also of impressive size. Go light and enjoy the fight. And how about that Cubera Snapper that took a live bait fished just off the bottom on a mid range wreck. A few Sails around. Thinking Wahoo right now, locked and loaded and ready to tangle with some more of the big boys that put a smile on an angler's face. Ours too, see you on the rip.

Well we dodged yet another bullet with another hurricane, this one “Delta”, steam rolling into the Gulf and causing a lot of destruction and pain. And this one only weeks after the previous Gulf coast hit. We have really been so very fortunate here what with the large amount of systems.Very small amount of weather here, and we have been able to keep a normal schedule. Some Mahi-Mahi showing up within a couple of miles of shore, nice Amberjacks continue to inhabit the deeper wrecks, some Kings and Blackfin Tunas along the reef lines. Occasional Sail or Wahoo also around the vicinity of those reefs and slightly deeper. Good weather in the forecast for the upcoming week for our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters. See you on the rip, enjoy the pictures of our anglers and fish.
