Mongoose Striker Fishing Charters
Make sure you bring a cooler and Ice if you plan on keeping fish to cook during your stay or bring a way to store and transport it til you get back to your lodging. It is chilly on the water so bring more layers than you are expecting to need. Rain gear would also be a great idea to have on hand if necessary.

Minnesota Charters
This was my first time ocean fishing. Sooke is a great spot as it is near land, extremely scenic, seems to have a healthy fishery, and offers lots of trip options.

King Tide Charters – 28ft Northwest
With the fast changing weather of BC it is a hit or miss at this time of year. The last couple of days of just Rain made the river system blow out. The fish are there but just harder to catch.

TD Coastal Adventures – Campbell River
The winter fishing is slower but less crowded and the scenery is amazing with snow capped mountains on the Island and Mainland and whales frolicking in the bay if you are lucky. Dress warmly with layers

Getter Done Charters Nanaimo winter season
The best months to fish, according to the captain, are between April and May, but it is possible to fish for sturgen all year round. It's worth buying the 6-hour fishing! It is a fishing that requires patience and trust in the captain's experience. We highly recommend Captain Peter Krahn!!!

The best time to fish for salmon off the shores of sooke is late summer. However, with the right guide, there are still big fish to be found.

Fantastic guide, what an awesome experience. My sons had a great time and we caught a ton of fish! Definitely wasn’t expecting to reel in 18 salmon that morning!

Booking late in the season doesn’t mean the fish are not there, it just means you need an experienced captain that knows how to get the fish on!

Take the newly paved road through Port Alberni - not the logging road! The Hacas hotel in Bamfield was the bare minimum for a fishing trip (it was clean enough but DO NOT bring your wife to this hotel).

If you want to catch certain kind of fish, ask captain before you completed your bookings. Each fish has right season, time and tide. So you must discuss what you need to do before you book the schedule. If you are not familiar with fishing just ask captain what you can do while your travel.

It gets busy there in the summer - book ahead if possible and find accommodation at the same time, places fill up fast. Catch My Drift charters helped with our booking and suggested places to stay, we'd recommend looking into their charters for sure.
