It's a fishing first destination, meaning if you want to take the family for a first time experience your probably better suited to start close to shore near Isla Mujeres. If you want to put in the work and catch fish then Purto Morelos is the real deal

Double Trouble
I've have charted boats in Jan, Feb, Early March and now end of May. Late spring is a better time then winter.

Real Catcher Boat
Be prepared for a choppy ride. I do not get seasick so I was fine, but anyone who is prone to getting sea sick will not have a good time on such a small boat.

We were blessed with some great fish & a couple big enough for trophies. Other boats out on the water with us did not catch anything. I assume it was because the season is just starting.

I would ask the captain about the sea conditions. If you get sea sick this will affect your trip. It did mine. However the weather has nothing to do with the captain or crew. They were great!

The 8 hour trip is VERY long, I think the 6 hour is more our timeline for a day of fishing in pretty choppy weather/swells.(My little guy was a little seasick)

was pretty choppy for us, one of the guys spent the whole time with his head overboard chumming the water for us. but we caught fish

Would recommend bringing your own snacks. Consider in advance if you want to mount what you catch, does cost extra but great problem to have! If younger kids, bring something for them to do during downtime btw catching fish :)
