Rainy season seems to be better for peacock bass in the canal and Lake Gatun. Book early morning to avoid Panama traffic. Bring sunscreen. Make sure your guide is fluent in your chosen language.

It does get hot. Hydrate on the boat and bring a hat. Take tons of pictures. It's absolutely serene and gorgeous.

i would recommend booking a longer trip with this guide. We were limited on time and only booked the three hour trip, but i wish we'd fish with him longer.

Check with your captain on the best time to fish based on what you want to catch. We had booked the morning, but then moved to the afternoon because the fishing was expected to be better.

We took our own suspender life vests, long sleeve SPF fishing shirts AND pants, plus hoodies and sunscreen. You will do fine with shorts and a wide brim hat.

Bring a good rain jacket as you are fishing the rainforest. We got wet but it did not put a damper on the trip.

Book your stay at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort! The resort is Gorgeous and has lots of beautiful views! The rooms are large, the food and drinks are good, and the staff at the bar/grill are awesome!
Most important Gutan Fishing is docked at the hotel marina.

Yes, and I would also recommend Mr. Rene. We caught plenty of Peacock Bass and a few other exotic fish. Tiger fish, Oscar etc. Mr. Rene was an excellent fish guide and he made the whole trip worth it. He was patient and professional.
