If you're fishing in Fajardo for the first time, book with Captain Marco and trust his recommendations. Come prepared to have fun, be open to targeting whatever species are biting that day, and listen to the crew—they know the waters extremely well. Also, don't leave without trying Captain Marco's ceviche recipe if you're lucky enough to get it. It's absolutely incredible!

there was 6 of us in our group. 2 of our family members had never been fishing before. they were the w who caught the 2 keeper fish in our group. the crew was very helpful and even gave us advice on how best to prepare our fish. and it was spot on.

Pay attention to the sargassum in the area. In large quantities it makes it impossible to fish and can get to the point where there is no option but to return home. I was fortunate it was at a manageable level when we went, but it was a lot of work for the deck hand constantly reeling in line to remove build up.

If I had the opportunity to wait until later in the season, I would, because the types of fish for sportfishing become greater in July and September.
Also the Sargassam (seaweed) right now, hampers the fishing, but this doesn't happen every year.

Bring lots of sunscreen… expect changing conditions throughout the day.. a raincoat.. and the sun hat.. and of course dramamine if you get seasick. I didn't need it… and be ready to catch something big and have a wonderful time..

Majority of what we caught was barracuda. Catching other fish would've been interesting but we know it's hard to catch specific fish. We enjoyed the experience.
