Fresh Berkeley Fishing Reports

Despite the curveballs being thrown at us in 2023 with the closures of salmon and now nearshore rockfish we continue to knock it out of the park with Halibut and Shark Action and we think both species should continue to bite extremely well the next couple months and you can now book all the way up to the end of October for both types of trips. Bluefin Tuna as well as Halibut and Shark Trips will be in the Heart of our lineup this September and October with Dungeness Crab season opening in early November! Strong offshore winds have limited our opportunities to make it to the Tuna grounds these past weeks but the emergence of fall weather patterns and warm ocean temps are very promising and reports of Bluefin Tuna in the 250lb+ range have already been reported by the few boats that have made it out during the short weather windows we’ve had. September and October typicaly offer calmer ocean conditions to reach the fishing grounds where these huge hard fighting fish call home! We are locked and loaded and plan on employing several effective stategies to keep our deck bloody this fall! ☠️ Also we have opened up Dungeness Crab as well as Crab/Sand Dab combo trips to book starting Nov 4! We are looking forward to an exciting Fall around SF bay! Weekend trips are filling fast so book your spots as soon as possible! July 15-31 2023….Halibut and Shark Fishing have both been very good to wide open! Weve been catching halibut up to 30lbs in the ocean when conditions allow and very good numbers and size inside the bay as well! Shark trips have been non-stop action and we’re catching easy limits of leopards with some up to 60” or more very close to richmond and well within range for our half day trips! Rockfishing will become a major theme for our late summer and early fall trips as the ocean winds calm down.

Yeaaaaah buddy! Dougie Fresh and Darryll wanted to beat the heat and get the boys on there first salty session! The boys got there first Halibuts and made some killer memories...Even managed limits!

Halibut and bass have been hot this may and promise to keep improving as bay and ocean temps continue to warm! June and July should be excellent fishing for larger grade halibut!

Salmon Fishing has been up and down with our success rate mostly depending on our landing percentage. We are still finding fish north as well as south and we have been hooking up on trophy grade king salmon every trip. Better tides next week will definitely help the bite. Halibut are back! We ran some halibut trips in both the ocean and the bay with the smaller tides and found good numbers of large grade halibut over 20lbs on every trip! We have been catching fish on live bait as well artificial lures. We are going to be targeting rockfish and lingcod alot more in the next couple months so make sure you make your plans to fill your freezer beforebits too late! -Captain Sean
