The crowds have thinned this time of year and the water is crystal clear. Now is the time to sight fish for redfish. For something different there is always Stripers on the Cape Fear. Don't let the weather keep you inside. This is my favorite time of year for technical fishing.

I know that Christmas has passed and few, if any, think about fishing. For the brave souls out there who are willing to put on some warm clothes it is a great time. The crowds have thinned out and the fish will still cooperate with the patient angler. Come enjoy a day on the water, relax with the slower pace of winter.

Fishing is as hot as the weather

The temperature is hot but the fishing has been good. Spanish, kings, blues and flounder have been off the beach. Inshore the red drum have been biting with aome regularity and should do better as we get closer to the fall

The redfish action is very good right now around Topsail Island. If you like to sight cast to redfish then now is the time. Large schools are in the marsh right now and they have been cooperative on most days. The water clarity is upwards of 10 feet right now, so that results in some of the best sight casting for schooling redfish of the year. The fishing pressure is low and there aren’t many other boaters on the water this time of year. Speckled trout fishing has been great during the warmer weather trends we have been seeing. Don’t wait for spring, the fish are here now and they are hungry! Reward yourself with the fishing trip you deserve. Book South End Anglers.
