Fresh Indian Shores Fishing Reports

Chunking for resfish this time of year can be extremely successful.

Nearshore fishing Has been great despite the fact that Mother Nature is not cooperating. The nearshore reef and wrecks have been holding decent numbers of Mangrove Snapper and the occasional Red and Gag Grouper along with Grunt and a few other species of fish. The Snook, Redfish and Trout bite has been good inshore. Look for these fish along the jetties and just off of the beaches. Make sure to have plenty of live shrimp and live bait. October is here and so are the schools of Mackeral just off of the beaches. The King fish should be close behind the schools of Mackeral so be sure to keep a flat line out while either anchored or drift fishing. Finding schools of Mackeral is as easy as looking for the birds. Once you find them, the fish should be nearby. Make sure to book your trip soon. Also, if you are out on the water, be sure to keep an eye out for floating debris from the storm. Tight lines and we will see you soon.

As we near the end of summer, the fishing will only continue to improve. Inshore, anglers have been catching large numbers of redfish and seatrout on the flats. A good amount of snook are still being caught under the bridges and in the passes. Nearshore outings have been full of action. With huge schools of bait grouping up along the beaches, a variety of fish are taking advantage. Anglers are catching, spanish mackerel, bonita, jack crevalle, ladyfish, flounder, snapper, grouper, and sharks. Kingfish should begin moving in within the next few weeks.

The mangrove snapper bite is off the chain in July so far. We have been seeing good numbers in about 40 feet. There are also plenty of good sized grunt to go with them. There were a few red grouper that were released to fight another day. Book soon and we will can get you on a few of these for the table.

The nearshore bite has been fanastic in April. The nearshore reefs and wrecks have been producing big Mangrove Snapper, Red Grouper,Sea Bass, grey Triggerfishand plenty of Grunt. The Spanish and King Mackerel are definitely here and should be here for a few more weeks. We look for diving birds and bait pods for these fish and either slow troll or anchor and chum them in. There have been a few shark that have showde up in our chum along with a few cobia. The 4 and 6 hours have been producing good numbers of the above species. May should be just as good. Book soon and you will have a chance at these awesome fighting fish. The Tarpon will be showing up in the bridge passes and along the beaches abd should make an awesone memory should you be lucky enough to battle one of these impressive fish. We’ve had a great variety of fishing i shore and nearshore. Snapper and grouper have been biting steady in the gulf and the seatrout bite has been very good inshore. We even got a surprise permit inshore! This is a great time of year to fill a cooler and keep the rods bent with steady action.
