Make sure you have a plan for what to do with all the fresh fish. We had 6 pounds of poke tuna that we couldnโt possibly eat!!

Captain Big Fish
We had no prior experience and we had no idea what to expect. We showed up and the captain made us feel at ease immediately. We were a group of one adult and four teenagers, but never felt like it was not a safe situation. They were patient, gave great directions, and everyone had a great time! Boat was clean, easy to move about on, and very comfortable! Place that we launched from was easy to find and park at as well.

Donโt think thereโs a bad time to be at Carolina Beach (except maybe a hurricane but that might be debate able). We caught a boat load of fish, a wide variety, and the water wasnโt too rough for the kids.

It was a beautiful December day and it was still cold. The wind made it even colder. Still caught a ton of different species despite it being December.

Carolina Charters
Watch weather and tides, keeping tides low or fishing later in the day as required.. for higher tides stay tight to the reeds,mix up bobber vs bottom rigs.. shrimp and or minnows seem to be the favored bait.

We come in October every year to take advantage of the great weather and fishing. We highly recommend the backwater trip if you enjoy the thrill of catching red drum.
