Obviously mid July can be brutal heat wise so lots of water and Gatorade. And if you are new to deeper water worm fishing, or just out of practice, spend a day at a local lake and tune up.

Absolutely! July is usually a little tougher because itโs beginning to get hot. Definitely try to get an experienced charter with good reviews. Be sure to use sunscreen and donโt forget the bug spray. You canโt beat the Deet.

If your catfish in June, make sure youโre going with someone that knows catfish. Theyโre coming off of spawn something I learned today and if you donโt know where to find them, you gonna have a long day suntanning. The bites generally a little slower within 30 minutes of water temperature and seeing where bait fish were, he knew exactly where to put us to put us on fish.

Captain let us know the big and small catfish weโre mixing more than normal with the spawn so it was harder to target the big boys but we landed lots of healthy 10 to 15 pounders. We were fishing for fillets to eat so it was perfect. He said post spawn was best to find hungry trophy fish

As a first time angler, the only thing that I regret not doing was asking the captain to show me how to cast the line and/or allow me to bait the hook myself. Otherwise, there's really nothing more to prepare for other than a great time.

It was surprisingly hot the day we were out. In the 90sโฆ Which felt amazing to be in the river, but the sun was wicked hot. We think the fish were a little slow to bite because of the heat, but things picked up towards the end of our outing
