This morning I had Nick, Sarah, Rachel, and Mike along for another wonderful day on the lake. It sure makes this job fun when both Mother Nature and the fish cooperate. I struggled through a couple nasty tangles and a little bit of heat, but we got a boat limit done in less than five hours. This afternoon I had another group from Indiana. I was forced to cancel and reschedule on these guys a couple weeks ago due to high winds, today’s weather was much more conducive for for a fun day on the lake. The fish did not disapoint either, allowing these guys to box their limit of walleye and the captain was able to catch the other half of his daily limit. This morning, I hosted a group from Indiana, and I believe three of them were first-time anglers on the big lake. I deviated from my standard approach of running spoons today, instead opting to run worm harnesses behind bottom bouncers. We fished in 15 feet of water, using 35-foot leads on 2oz bouncers, with a speed of 1.8 sog; notably, color did not seem to be a factor. The weather was beautiful, and the fish were exceptionally active. This crew successfully caught their limit, and half of the captains. #takeakidfishing
