Trip Summary

Hello there, Capt. Vinnie here with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. This week has been a little bit of a tricky one, afternoon showers have been scaring a lot of people off from wanting to go deep sea fishing right now but the truth is, getting an early start like 7am can keep you in the fish and home in time to get you out of the weather. Now September is a month that is notorious for slow business here but it tends to have the best fishing of the whole year, which in terms makes that better for you the consumer. For the fishing report this week there has been a great bite inshore on kingfish. Kingfish is a very popular fish with a good amount of our customers. Its very good to make smoked for fish dip as well as blackened or fried. These fish have been very prevalent early in the mornings as shallow as 100 feet and have been biting best on our baits fished under the surface. Next species that has been good is blackfin tuna on early mornings, depths around 200-300 feet is where we have been fishing. The blackfin tunas like lures fished a little faster and a little further behind the boat, the most important thing is to not slow down when you get a bite, tunas are a schooling fish and keeping your same speed at the time of a hook up can result in multiple hook ups. Blackfins have been anywhere from 5-15lbs. We are just coming off of a full moon and that means wahoo, there has been a few nice wahoo as a "by- catch" while fishing for species like tuna. The outgoing tide in the early morning is going to give you the best chance at getting that trophy wahoo. Same depths as the tuna is where your going to want to be focusing most of your time, there has been a few bigger ones in the 30lb range but majority have been 18-25lbs. Another species that has been around and is always a pleasure is sailfish. These guys always bring joy to any anglers face with there fast runs and acrobatic jumps, primarily our sailfish season is winter to spring but we are seeing a nice little fall run right now, trolling has been the best option for all types of gamefish being there has been very light winds and a steady current. It is important to pay attention to surface baits with sailfish being around because you want to see the bite before they actually eat it. A lot of times sailfish will whack a bait with there bill and if there is no reaction they will loose interest quick, so its very important for the deckhand to notice that and reel the bait away to get that predator instinct. This week take a minute to check out some of the great photos this week of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. The Time To Fish Is NOW!!
The Time To Fish Is NOW!!
October 23, 2026
Hey there, Capt. Vinnie back again with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. This week has been a little bit windy and the seas have been bigger then normal but the fishing has been just plain excellent. This time of year you want the windy conditions to make the fishing great and thats exactly what we have been having. The main focus lately has been mahi and we have been catching some nice ones at that. The average size has been around 12lbs and some have been has big as 20lbs. We recently have been having a nice tidal edge where the green outgoing intercoastal water meets the blue water of the gulfstream forming a current edge and the blue side has been where the mahi have been. Trolling down the blue side with surface baits out has been the ticket, its super important to watch your surface baits and keep them clean so you can maximize your chances. Birds like frigates have been contributing to our success as well, anytime you see birds diving the gamefish are not going to be to far away. Its always smart to keep your eyes peeled and your head on a swivel when fishing offshore you never know what you might see. Other then mahi there has been some wahoo if you are fishing some planers to take your bait under the surface that is going to put you right in the zone for a wahoo bite. Blue and white has been the go to color as well as pink and white. Certain fish feed below the surface and some feed on the surface, so using a planer helps to make everything in your trolling spread appeal to some sort of fish out there. Average size on the wahoo has been anywhere from 20-30lbs with some over 30lbs not being uncommon. Inshore wise the best bite has been kingfish, and a secret to getting the most bites on kingfish right now is using mullet strips. With the mullet run being in full effect now its always smart to match the hatch and use exactly what the fish are feeding on to bring you the most success. As you can see from our photos this week fishing has been excellent almost every trip, some days will be better the others but our average has been very good. We should start to see some sailfish action in another month or so i do believe we need another cold front or two that will cool the water temps down and get those fish heading south towards us. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the rest of the month of October and the beginning of November we have a good amount of available dates to get out fishing, this is one of the best times to go fishing here in Fort Lauderdale, and you don't want to miss it so if your heading down and looking to get out check out YB Normal. Servicing Fort Lauderdale, Dania beach, and Hollywood beach for all your deep sea fishing needs. More Later... Capt. Vinnie

Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
October 11, 2026
Hello there, Capt. Vinnie here and back with another great deep sea fishing report. This week we had some very nice weather earlier in the week and as we approached the weekend the winds and seas picked up, fishing this week started out great catching a few sailfish just on the edge of the reef. There has been a few days where the sailfish have shown in some numbers which is great news for the winter to come. We are still catching all sailfish trolling right now, our live bait season is just around the corner though. So stay tunned for that in future reports. On the reef other then sailfish there has been a very good bite of kingfish and some nice ones at that, the most important thing right now is to be using mullet strips while trolling and the reason why I say this is because right now we are having the mullet run and there are big schools of these bait fish coming down our beaches as well as offshore bait balls and a lot of the predator fish are capitalizing on these baits, so it only makes sense to use exactly what there eating, match the hatch is what we call it. The kingfish have been biting best over the shallow shipwrecks and bottom structure around 100-130 feet of water and the average size has been 10-12lbs with a few bigger ones mixed in. One species that has been hot as well this week and specially on the days that the wind has been up is mahi mahi. The fall season in my opinion is the best time for mahi fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area and the size of them is a lot bigger then our summer season. On windy days the mahi have been in as shallow as 50 feet chasing live ballyhoo, the key is to look for birds diving and seeing the ballyhoo shower on top of the water while there getting chased. There has also been a few mahi offshore when the outgoing tide meets the gulfstream waters causing a tide line or current edge, trolling down these current edges is going to produce great results specially early in the mornings. Average size of the mahi right now has been 10lbs. Last but not least this week we did see some blackfin tuna action in depths around 300 feet. Smaller baits fished below the surface like spoons have been a good choice to get bites but your going to sacrifice quality for quantity fishing smaller baits, but if your looking for bigger tuna its better to fish bigger baits at faster speeds, which also could open up an opportunity for wahoo as well. The tuna bite has been best early in the morning from sunrise to around 830am. This week please take a second to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for this week and next we have plenty of availability for deep sea fishing charters, the pictures of our recent catches speak for themselves. Fishing is great right now and should remain that way for quite some time. If your thinking about coming down to Fort Lauderdale for a weekend get a way or even vacation and thinking about fishing, now is the time! Check out YB Normal servicing Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, and Hollywood Beach for all your deep sea fishing needs. more later.... Capt. Vinnie

Great Start To Fall Deep Sea Fishing
Great Start To Fall Deep Sea Fishing
September 30, 2026
Hey there, Capt. Vinnie here back with a great Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. We had a rainy week this week and a light cold front to cool things off, but there was a few days that the weather was absolutely fantastic, and i would say the fishing was just about the same. For the report this week we finally got to see the run of fall fishing we love. Mahi mahi is always a hot topic and fall is one of the best times to catch them, a lot of people think summer is the best and it can be but the fish tend to be smaller specially in our area and not much is consistent like as to where you can find them. The fall mahi season is when we see majority of our bigger mahi and plenty of numbers. Due to all the rain we have been having it has given our inshore waters a tanic look or tea color, and when we have an outgoing tide all that inshore water moves out to sea forming a tide line where the blue water meets the green water and that has been where the mahi fishing has been excellent. This tideline has been easy to find by the different color in the water as well as weed lines going north to south and floating debris. This is where the gulfstream water meets the outgoing tide. Trolling on the blue side has been straight money for mahi mahi and multiple hook ups have been the norm. Its very important to have rods to cast when you get multiple hook ups because majority of the fish are in a school and you want to take advantage of those opportunities. Average size on the mahi have been anywhere from 8-12lbs. We did find this edge on a half day trip but i recommend a 3/4 day trip or even all day trip right now if mahi is what your after. We have a photo this week of a great all day trip we had catching 40 mahi mahi! Exactly on that edge I was talking about. Other then mahi right now there has been some wahoo due to the full moon and the crazy king tides we have been having. The tidal edge I mentioned earlier is also a great place to try for wahoo and never hurts to fish a bait below the surface on a planner just in case! Inshore we are starting to see a fall flurry of king mackeral and it should keep improving as we get further into the month of October, last but not least there has been a small trickle of sailfish which I personally think maybe a hint for a great winter season, right now we are still mostly trolling for all species but in another few months all that gear will be put away and transition into our live bait gear, seeing a nice little flurry should continue as we reach our winter months. This week please take a minute to check out some of our great photos of some recent catches that were caught on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up, I think that the mahi fishing will continue to stay very good until November so there is plenty of time to get out there and catch them, also i think as the water cools we will see more blackfin tuna and a few more wahoo so be on the look out for that in future reports. As for availability there is plenty for the month of October and fall fishing is one of my favorite times and is when i tell a lot of our customers to come back and fish with us again! So if your thinking of coming down to do some deep sea fishing now is the time, the pictures speak for themselves all you have to do is look up is YB Normal servicing Fort Lauderdale, Dania beach and Hollywood beach for deep sea fishing charters. more later....
