Spring kingfish are here; blacktip shark
March 13, 2019 West Palm Beach 3 photos

Trip Summary

We've been catching kingfish up to 25 pounds using simple dead-sardine rigs on spinning rods as well as live baits such as threadfin herring and goggle-eyes rigged on wire leader. Expect the spring king action to continue as the water warms. Warmer weather in April and May also should lead to catches of blackfin tuna and colorful, high-jumping mahi mahi. Blacktip sharks and spinner sharks were still moving along Palm Beach County beaches in shallow water in March, but they'll likely move north as the water warms in the spring.
