Trip Summary

Tarpon fishing has been slow this year. I believe we have one more good moon cycle before or migratory tarpon season comes to a close. We will target the tarpon on the crab flush this next moon and follow them up the beaches on the half moon. I think we will be a few more shots at them on the beach late in the month.

This tropical Storm really shuffled the deck for us here on the East Coast of Florida. A storm like that can be good and bad. The good this is it moves a lot of water around and cools it down. The bad this is it stirs everything up forcing the fish to move and find clean water. Snook like clean water. We will be targeting areas with lots of tidal flow where the water will clean up with fastest. We are on a moon right now. I predict the Snook bite will be pretty good. I also expect to see a few Tarpon in the mix as well. Our Tarpon season is coming to a close here in the Tampa bay area as the migration moves north.

The Snook bite right now in Tampa Bay is nothing short of amazing. As the water temperatures reach the mid 80's, we are seeing the vast majority of our Snook move to the beaches and passes to spawn. We like to target these fish early morning or early evening.
