Trip Summary

This past week saw some amazing things! Got to witness a shrimp hatch first thing in the morning. It lasted about 30 minutes and the tarpon were going berserk daisy chaining and blowing up the surface. Shrimp were everywhere and just as fast as it started it ended. I always encourage clients to get out as early as possible. I have no problem leaving the dock in the dark and often that first hour and a half of visible light can be some of the most epic fishing throughout the day. Managed to get 4 5-10lb tarpon out of that hatch and some nice snook and smaller tarpon afterwards. Canoe trails have been on fire and if you can stand the heat that's the best opportunity to catch multiple good sized snook and tarpon on fly. The backcountry has been pretty good as well with some nice 14-15" snappers lately all in big schools. We got our limit pretty quick the other day. Managed to tug on some 30-50lb range Goliath's and landed 1. Every day seems to be about 50% chance of rain. I actually welcome the rain this time of year it keeps things cool, the sun isn't beating you to death and the fish seem to like the cooler water temperatures as well. Overall a great week and looking forward to the next one.
