Trip Summary

It's been three weeks since the opening day of snapper season for federal waters. With calmer days and longer trips we were able to fish well offshore of our normal range. We always troll everywhere and this day we were rewarded on the trip out with several nice size king mackerel and a decent wahoo. Pulling up on our first bottom fishing spot was some thing to see as before we could get a line in the water large snapper were swimming on the surface behind the Jus Cuz. Shawn started feeding them and the numbers of fish grew and grew until a frenzy ensued. In short order all anglers were doing battle with the big snapper. While all this was going on a 40-50# king swims up behind the Jus Cuz and just lays Behind the boat eating whatever hits the water. We scrambled to get a bait to the big King, but his younger counterpart beat him to the draw. We caught that King and several more, a limit of pretty snapper and we're off to troll for wahoo the remainder of the day. We ended up picking up another wahoo and missed a bigger one before headed back to home base. If you get a chance to come fishing, it's a great time to "Catch some fun!" On the Jus Cuz.
