Trip Summary

We started at 7 a.m and departed from the beach infront of the blue marlin restaurant. The weather was a bit cloudy. Perfect conditions for the tuna. Few days before we noted the presence of big schools of yellowfin in the area. 3 boats were out from Le morne and each one of us went a direction with the intention of finding them. 45 mins later they were spoted and we headed to the area. One of our friends was already on a fight. We came to the first school...no strike...second school nothing just some dolphins playing around the boat ...went to a third school and bang...the elastics which fixed our line to the central rigger snapped...a tuna was on....we immediately took other lines in...in the matter of seconds with the help of the guests on board lines were in and the fight started. It was a tough fish. After 40 minutes of fight we could see some colours the tuna was still deep down...we slowly managed to lift him up...it took some line going and coming back few times. We could see the tuna making circles below...after 10 more minutes the 150 pounds tuna was in. We were back in the lagoon with 2 mackerel bonitoes that we caught few minutes after crossing the reef and a nice and big yellowfin tuna
