Lingcod fishing has been incredible lately out of Newport, OR. Some days have been hard to catch rockfish because the lingcod are so thick!! We’ve had days whwre weve release a dozen keeper lingcod while trying to finish off our rockfish bag. There have been lots of “hitchhiker” lingcod trying to eat hooked fish. We tell people to reel up nice and slowly and give the really big lingcod a chance to attack the fish that are hooked. Dont miss out on this opportunity to put some quality fish on your dinner table or in your freezer.

The past two trips have had incredible lingcod bites. They have been so aggressive that its been difficult to fill our rockfish bag limits. Weve released over 15 keeper lings on each of our last two trips after we’ve gotten our limits. Rockfish grade has been good as well. This is a great time to be fishing for lingcod!!

Today we had 4 Navy veterans on board - 2 sets of brothers who were one of the most fun crew ive ever had. We started off with a east to west drift over a reef that runs north to south so we had to get our baits down and captialize on the brief time we passed over the best structure. The rockfish were willing biters, taking fresh bait and plastics but we had to make numerous passes to fill the boat with rockfish. We also picked off a couple keeper lingcod. Once we had our limit of rockfish we had quite a bit of time remaining and a beautiful ocean to fish on so we tucked inshore to some unmarked pinnacles in shallow water and out the hurt on the lingcod. We finished with limits of rockfish and lingcod and, more importantly, had a great time on the ocean talking story and laughing a lot. Really good times today on good time charlie sportfishing!
