Trip Summary
We ran the boat out to Catalina overnight on a sea trial for the new motors. All was running great. We found squid on the backside, but could not get them to float. We should have enough frozen squid for the season to fish the kelp and close to shore.
Halibut have been biting close to shore. We did land a couple bigger ones in about 50' and just legals very close in 20'. The surface action on the East End wasn't wide open like the summertime usually is. Bunch of barracudas. No yellows or white sea bass for us.....yet.
Good news is that we are good to go this season.
