Trip Summary
Its always a pleasure to have a group that will make the effort to depart early! Jason and the firefighters from No. Cal. showed up onboard Picudo and we were putting the lines out befor sunup! Rapalas and some dark color setups were in the pattern and we had only one thing on our mind. So we headed towards our favorite dawn patrol high spot off Cabeza Ballena when the short corner reel started to scream!! That line ripping out on a nonstop 100 yard run could only mean one thing. WAHOO!!Our angler was all over it and we had that fish to gaff in minutes! We got those lines back out quickly and did a few more laps over the spot but to no avail. theres not too many wahoo right now so its a quick early morning snap and its over! We headed down to another bump off Shipwreck and no sooner did we pass over it we were smoked again! Another Wahoo on a smaller set up! That purple and black Rapala did it again. Our angler was all over it and in no time we had 2 in the bag! The sun was coming up and the boats were starting to show and that was the end of that. Great start to a great day! And yes, the early bird does get the worm!! Gotta love those firemen!! Yar!!
