Trip Summary

Heavy rains, drifting weed mats, and hot water dampened the crappie bite this week. Nevertheless, we still put a few crappie and other species in the boat using a combination of techniques.

We worked hard to put 17 crappie onboard today, but only 8 were keepers. Also caught a few bass, and lost a catfish at net. All fish were caught tightlining live minnows over brushpiles in 16-24 FOW. Pushing and pulling jigs and crankbaits wasn't successful as the fish weren't roaming, but hanging tight to structure.

Gusty winds kept us off our preferred spots today, but we managed to take some bass, drum, and 9-10 inch crappie in the more sheltered areas. Water temps are falling and the fall bite is ahead.
