Trip Summary

Weather forecast: Calm clear skies with average winds of 6 knots some days 10 knot wind gusts little to no wind waves. On average, the swells are 3ft, with wind waves on the Pacific side water reaching 90 degrees. No storms forecasted local weather is hot and humid staying in the low 90s Species: Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna. Great numbers of all pelagic species Dorado / Mahi Mahi: Weve caught good sized mahi couple of miles offshore. Found schools while trolling lures and dead bait with several hookups at a time. YFTuna: We made headlines this week being the crew to have reeled in and brought to the scales a 308lb tuna after bloodloss. Fought the cow for over 2 hours on an avet reel. Yacht crews went as far as placing bets on which technique we used to catch it. Roosters: Good bite for roosters all around, medium to large roosters on live bait trolling inshore. Hot Spots: couple of mile offshore from Cabeza ballena, and the lighthouse. The horseshoe bank, and 1150 have been very productive. Tips: The early morning bright colors, purples. Live baits and rigged medium sized baits. High quality tackle in good conditions, with constant inspection of our rigging has allowed us to have a high success rate.
