Trip Summary
The water keeps getting warmer and the fishing keeps getting better! This couple is showing off one of the many double hookups we had that day! The red drum have started to kick into their spring time patterns. We are finding smaller schools of hungry fish ready to take our baits. Shrimp and mud minnows have been the go to for the past few weeks. We will either use a Zman Redfish Eye jig head to put the baits on the bottom or use slip corks to float across the flats. Both methods have proved successful. Mixed in with these fish are nice black drum. They are always a pleasant surprise when you hook into one. Trout and sheepshead have also been around. The trout are primarily around deeper structure in 8-12 ft of water.
The bull reds are starting to make an appearance in the harbor and along our jetties. You can catch these drag screaming giants on the bottom with cut bait using a Carolina rig. We suggest a 8/0 circle hook and enough weight on a fish finder rig to keep the bait on the bottom in the current.
As we continue into Spring, we only expect the bite to get better! We will be seeing the toothy critters showing up soon as well!
Book us today to get out on our beautiful waters and lets catch some fish!!
