Trip Summary
Trip Summary
Let me introduce you to the ribbon fish! A deep dwelling predator that actually suspends in the water, vertically. They run in schools and are very aggressive. The bait of choice are lures like spoons, jigs or anything reflective. We usually troll slowly for them with speeds around 4mph. We set multiple lines at different depths in the water column as a means of tracking the fish and do circles once we get a few bites. It's not uncommon to catch several at once although it's not guaranteed.
We have seen a trend lately of more ribbons than mackerel but that's not a problem as ribbon fish are pretty tasty.
The weather backed off a bit as we hoped for but there's still a touch of rain here and there. Seas have calmed to around 2-3 ft which is a beautiful thing.
Reminder:
The fish house at the marina will cut all the fish that you would like to take home and if you are looking for a place to have them cooked then we can recommend several options.
