We have recently been splitting a lot of our 4 hours trips between fast action channel cat fishing and drifting for those trophy fish. With the recent cold front coming through, now is prime time to go in search of that one fish that can make your trip really special. We haven't landed a monster yet this season, but we have been regularly catching 6+ pound fish. The fish will only get bigger as the water temperature drops. I haven't found those white bass and hybrids schooling up yet to do some deadsticking, but that is right around the corner as well.

Today, I had Pete junior and senior on the boat. We were originally scheduled to go yesterday, but we decided to go today instead. It was 31 degrees when I got on the boat, but I think we made a good choice as it warmed up quickly. I had tried a new spot last weekend and told them I wanted to head out there to that deeper water. The bite was steady all morning, and we finished the day with 49 fish in the cooler and 6 bent hooks. We had number 50 up to the boat just before our time was up, but senior let him off the hook. I was determined to finish out the limit, but these guys had enough fun for the day and didn't want to keep me out late. It started out all blues, and by the end of the trip, we were catching mostly channels.

We have been catching good numbers of blue cats and channel cats on all of our trips. We dealt with some unpredictable weather this week, but it didn't slow us down.
