Trip Summary

Crappie are making the annual migration into the creeks. Masses of floating of eel grass made trolling difficult, but we did a few nice slabs , as well as drum and channel catfish, into the boat. Water has warmed to 52 degrees and the fishing should only get better in the weeks ahead.

We worked hard to put 17 crappie onboard today, but only 8 were keepers. Also caught a few bass, and lost a catfish at net. All fish were caught tightlining live minnows over brushpiles in 16-24 FOW. Pushing and pulling jigs and crankbaits wasn't successful as the fish weren't roaming, but hanging tight to structure.

Gusty winds kept us off our preferred spots today, but we managed to take some bass, drum, and 9-10 inch crappie in the more sheltered areas. Water temps are falling and the fall bite is ahead.
