Had five guys from upstate New York. The wanted bass and blues on light tackle, casting and jigging. Well we found some fish that were willing. For a good amount of the falling tide we had many fish. Everyone caught. I would call it a blitz. One fish after another. Gulls were feeding, fish were feeding and we all had a great time.

The striped bass fishing is the best bet right now. Block Island has some beautiful fish that have just showed up from the west. A large pile of sand eels, a favorite food of the striped bass, have also arrived inshore in large numbers. The bait should keep the stripers around for some time. There are a few bluefish mixed in with the bass but not too many. Fluke fishing has been a bit of a grind. Sea bass, another food favorite, opens on June 18th. See you soon. John.

We had some wind. The wind built a sea. I didn't fish for two days, mowed the lawn, watched my son's soccer game. When I got back out, the water was still a little bit silty and weedy. This did make for some difficult fishing. This is part of the game: how to catch fish when the fish don't want to bite. We did manage some good bottom fish--scup, fluke, some Atlantic mackerel. The weather this week looks better, the ocean calm and inviting. I will report back in a few days. John
