Such a great time. Capt. Andy and his first mate Nate treated us to a great morning.  My wife and I came with our four kids that varied in age between 17 and 6. Everyone had a blast.  The winds fought against us but the crew knew how to get us on the fish. We caught a variety of fish, quite a few sharks and rays that put up a good fight!  Andy and Nate were knowledgeable of the area and where to catch fish. I’d choose them again. Thanks for some great family fun.

This trip almost didn’t happen due to unpredictable weather. Captain Shelby/Andy kept us informed early in case weather will impact our fishing trip day.  Everyone was watching the weather closely needless to say..lol.

Fortunately, mother nature gave us 4+ hours of perfect weather Monday morning and rest was making great family memories and very unique stories to tell friends/families about it.  We really appreciate Captain Shelby taking care of us and making this trip a memorable one. 

Now, as for the exciting part of our trip, our boys kept the Captain busy from the get-go.  I think we caught our first fish less than 1 minute into our fishing spot..lol.  We’ve caught variety of fish first 2 hrs.  They were Whiting, Lady Fish, Blue Fish, Croaker, Small Sting Rays, Cat Fish..  The next 2 hrs, we moved to a different location and that’s when we caught some bigger fish.  3 different types of sharks between 3+ to 4+ foot long.  On our final hour, we caught a big one. It was a big 80-100 lb Sting Ray which took us about 30+ mins to reel it in.  The DNR patrol person was near by and they were watching us the entire time..lol.  That was all hands on deck and taking turns to reeling it in. Great times!!  I think we were all exhausted after that catch.

On the way back, we saw group of Dolphins heading west from our direction. There were 10+ in that group.  Captain Shelby was nice enough to move the boat slowly toward them for us to enjoy that view.  While watching them moving toward bridge area, one of the Dolphin leaped about 6 feet high from the water and made a big splash.  Everyone was excited to see that and we actually caught that leap on our video.  It was a very unique experience for all of us.

Overall, we had an excellent time as family and communication with Captain Shelby/Andy was easy as it comes.  Glad mother nature cooperated as well which was a blessing for sure.  Hopefully we’ll be back for another trip very soon.  I highly recommend Island Angler Charter for your next family fishing trip.

Besides being very friendly, considerate and professional Captain Andy and his son absolutely knew the area very well. Captain Andy has been fishing this area for a very long time. His experience and his son’s expertise and knowledge put us on fish at the beginning of the trip and never stopped right to the end of the trip. My kids 10-16 will have a life long memory of this trip. My daughter caught a ray and multiple sharks.I caught a shark and a large ray. My son caught multiple sharks and he will never forget this day he will talk about it for years. I highly recommend Captain Andy Hicks.

We had an amazing time fishing with Captain Andy and deckhand Shelby. They were both very kind and knowledgeable, giving us all sorts of insight into the surrounding waters. They provided everything we needed and happily baited and unhooked anything we caught, and made sure we were having the best time possible. Weather kept us from going too far off shore, but that didn’t stop us from having a great experience. We caught a ton of different varieties of sharks and fish in the waters around Jekyll Island. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone looking for a fun time of fishing.

I booked this trip for my fiancés birthday. I was very nervous due to me knowing nothing about fishing in the ocean. Captain took the time explaining everything and braking it down for me. He has amazing communication as well! We got on the boat and felt very welcomed. Crew was respectful but made sure we had a blast! I will definitely be coming back to gosh with these gentlemen again.
