We didnโt catch lots of fish but we caught what we were trying to catch. We boated two Marlin and released one. One was injured in the fight and was dying. We got one decent Yellow fin and about 8 or so Bonita. Very rough and windy. I think we did well under the circumstances.
Captain and crew were great, caught a Marlin and a Yellow Fin tuna. Stayed out an hour later than the 8 hours trying to get another Marlin we saw on the way back and fighting with another boat to position us. Great experience overall. Negative note, the guy from Grayโs taxidermy waiting when we returned pressuring a one time deal now. Suggesting that you measure Marlin from the tip of sword to the end of the tail so they know how big to build the crate for shipping. The rates for taxidermy are based on length and you measure Marlin from the bottom of the mouth to the fork of the tail. Probably added 20โ to this fish and shipping and packaging is extra. The guy followed me all the way to the restaurant trying to sell me on this.

This was a Full Day Trip with Captain Poncho and Mate Tu-Pac on the Merengue 40โ.ย The captain and Mate were very friendly, knowledgeable and very experienced.ย They speak good English and worked hard to get us fish.ย It was a long day with a few bites but no fish boated until 2:15 PM, the captain and mate were so happy and relieved as you know no one wants to be skunked.ย We caught a big bull Mahi-Mahi, we took the fillets to The Funky Olive which I highly recommend. They cooked it 5 ways plus sushi and sashimi to begin, all with one half of the fish, best fish meal ever! Highly recommend The Funky Olive!

The goods. We had a group of 9. Due to covid we had to do two boats. Wasnโt what we wanted but I cant dock the charter for that, thatโs out of their hands and I completely understand that. Price was fair and the crew made sure we had everything we needed (licenses, bait, food, water etc.). A crew member met us right by the main entrance to the dock and walked us right to where we needed to be. They were very helpful and very accommodating to all of us. We got to the boat and was loaded up, fueled and on the water fishing very quickly. The crew and captain were very nice and funny group of guys. The boat was clean and equipment was all set out and ready for use.
The Bad. This was probably more on myself but worth sharing. We did catch a marlin which was an awesome experience! We hook on to it right out of the harbor and was a 20 min fight. Probably 6 foot fish and will forever be a memory for me. Unfortunately this was the only fish we got in the boat for the 5 hours between the two boats. I know I said we wanted to catch marlin but I could have been more direct and ask to shift our fishing from marlin to other easy to catch fish for the rest of the party. 5 hours on a boat with no other fish is a long day on the water. My only suggestion to the crew would be to maybe ask if we had wanted to go after other fish to get everyone involved on the boat. But again it could have been a language barrier and maybe I wasnโt direct enough.ย
Either way, the trip was a great time. I will defiantly be doing this again when we come back next year. I would 100% recommend this charter to friends who are looking to catch big fish in Cabo.
