Caught a couple small tarpons and had a nice time

My son and I went out with Capt. Jagger for a morning trip in mid March. He asked what we wanted to fish for and advised going out early (6 am) if we wanted to catch Tarpon. He came in 2 hours early to take us and he was right - he found the fish! Ended up catching a large (100 pound?) tarpon and Jagger was amazing. He weaved through anchored sailboats until we were in open water so we didn’t lose the fish. Will definitely book again next time we are in the Keys.

It was a cooler December morning in Key West, but we had an awesome time fishing with Captain Jagger! He accommodated our date/time and fishing preferences, and was super knowledgeable about the area and the fish, as well as very friendly. It was a slow day biting, but we still caught three mangrove snapper (which our captain cleaned for us after so we could bring it to be cooked for lunch at the delicious Hurricane Hole) and one gag grouper (which we had to throw back as the season just ended). Captain Jagger gave us the perfect balance of letting us fish freely and how we wanted, but was always nearby to help with a cast, reel, or stuck hook. It was a smaller boat, but comfortably fit the three people on board (even a few more), and was a great way to start the day. (Bathroom breaks at a nearby dock are possible for those who can’t hold it!) Definitely put this on your list for Key West!
