Kathy I am pleased you enjoyed your trip and thanks for the review Captain Rick
Capt. Mike showed us a great time catching Sail Fish and Mahi Mahi. Victor and John were very helpful.
Thanks for the nice review crew rhinocharger
Crew was great The Red tide made fishing difficult We should have had two Sailfish lost one
Thanks Dean Rick
Iโll start by saying the captain and crew were super nice and looked like they were trying hard by swapping out lures but it was all for not! On the water 6 plus hours dragging baits around and not one single bite! Had a few dolphins swimming along the boat for a bit but that was the extent of things we saw in the water! When we first arrived after an 1.5 hour drive we were greeted by the guy in charge (his name slips my mind ) he presided to tell us our original captain wasnโt gonna make it and he looked a little worried while making phone calls .. he said he had another captain for us and not to worry.. Victor was our captain he greeted us and off we went .. 40 mins or so before we got to where lines started getting put out and then the dragging of the bait was on! It was ok for a bit but after 3 or 4 hours of nothing we asked if we could just go do some bottom fishing just to catch something! We were told to be patient.. then roughly another hour went by and we asked again about bottom fishing and then we were told they arenโt set up for thatโฆ so my question is why wouldnโt you be set up for that ? Especially when people pay the money they paid why wouldnโt you offer to let them catch something!? Itโs crazy! $1100 bucks just to ride back and forth on a boat with drinks and lunch and no way to catch fish is how our day went.. we should have been offered our money back when the original captain couldnโt make it.. I mean isnโt the captain the most important person when trying to locate and catch fish with this style of fishing???ย So yeah I wouldnโt recommend rhino charger fishing to anyone.. Iโve had a few people tell me we got tourist trapped .. I know I would have felt a million times better about the whole day if I could have had pole rigged up for fishing the bottom or something!!

Hi Daniel. Firstly I want to thank you for praising our crew and our boat. Our team works tirelessly to ensure our guests make the most out of their trip so I am glad to see you appreciate their hard work and dedication to what they do. With regards to your other comments, firstly I want to say weโre sorry you didnโt catch any fish. We work closely with many other fishing charters and I can tell you that it was a bad day for all other boats who fished that day. From what we gathered, no one caught anything the day you travelled so it was a bad day had by all. Though days like this are exceedingly rare they can occasionally happen, but please know that this is just the nature of fishing. All we can do is the best that we can. Please also note that we actually have two captains for the Rhino Charger: Capt. Maikel and Capt. Victor. The only reason the manager was there that morning was to inform you that your original captain, Maikel, was sick so instead Capt. Victor will be taking your group out that morning. He also wanted ensure that you boarded the correct tender to the Rhino Charger because occasionally there can be confusion on the beach and people can get into the wrong pangas. Victor is a seasoned angler with over ten years of experience as a captain on Rhino Charger and knows these waters as well as most other captains in Tamarindo. Regarding your comment about bottom fishing, I think you misunderstood our captain. What he meant to say is that conditions were extremely windy and strong currents made it very unsuitable for bottom fishing. We were miles away from anywhere that we could feasibly bottom fish. Even if we were close to where we can bottom fish, it still would have been ill advised to do so as it would have been very uncomfortable for everyone as soon as we stopped the boat. I think your statement that we were a โtourist trapโ is a little unfair as we were as accommodating as we could possibly be and you even mentioned how hard the crew worked for your group. We were never told beforehand that you were travelling 1.5 hours to fish with us nor that you expressed an interest in bottom fishing prior to your trip. As you can see by other testimonies here, we have many excellent reviews that speak to our high reputation, experience and the work ethic we provide to all of our anglers. Regardless of your trip, we hope you had a great time in Costa Rica and get to return again soon!
