Great experience for my son and our group. Caught a couple yellowfin tuna.
thanks for the review Christian Captain Rick
Highly recommend the half day trip. The crew were super courteous and helpful. Had a great time!
Meghan thanks for the review enjoy the rest of your trip Captain Rick
Boat was very clean, and in nice shape. Captain and crew didnโt talk, or engage us much. We got on one sailfish shortly after departure, and lost it about 10 seconds into the fight( I feel like the captain was still pulling a little hard, when we shouldโve been in reverse backing to the fish.) We spent the rest of the day trolling back and forth within sight of the shoreline getting absolutely no action whatsoever. On the way in, we found some birds and dolphins working an area, so the crew switched baits and we were able to pick up two tuna. Overall, it was a mediocre day on the water, but the back and forth in the same area was obviously not the best plan. In all fairness, I did book a fishing trip in hopes that it would turn into a catching trip, which it very well couldโve been had we searched different water, but sometimes thatโs how it goes.

Hi Tracy Thanks or the review, I talked with Captain Maikel and he gave me a rundown of your trip. Maikel had a briefing with your group before you left the mooring one of the guest wanted to go rooster fishing it was explained that inshore fishing would produce nothing because the water was green and full of red tide. Everyone agreed to go offshore fishing as that was the only option. I am sorry the fishing was slow but that is out of control of the crew the full moon phase did not help the situation. I would politely like to address some of your comments in your review first you fished to the south and offshore of Tamarindo during the course of the day you covered over seventy five miles and at the furthest you where thirty five miles from tamarindo offshore. you can see back to shore for over fifty miles due to the mountains on the coast. second in the thousand of sailfish I have caught over the years I have probably backed down on only a few over the years. third Maikel was lucky enough to find a group of spinner dolphins on the horizon and he went for them spending an extra hour on the water so your trip was not a complete failure and you got on the tuna. which helped with the slow day with two nice tuna. I agree it was a mediocre day but I think the crew did everything possible to salvage a slow day ( the two nice tuna was the best in the fleet for fishing that day per talk on the radio) I realize that everyone would like to book a trip that turns into a catching trip (yours did) but as you said that is not always the way it goes Thanks for the booking Captain Rick and Maikel
