First up, we had no issues with Captain John or his Mate Hunter. They made us feel very welcome and really did all the work. My booking stated “A 4-hour trip targeting Flounder, Sheepshead, Striper/Rockfish, Blue, Puffer, and Croaker.” So I was a bit surprised to see us going for sharks and rays. I’ve fished enough in my life to know you have to go with what the locals know/do so I figured that was what our best chance for action was for this day. Only problem in hindsight is that shark/ray fishing is a lot like catfishing, throw out the bait and watch rods. Even though we tried two different spots, we only managed to hook up two rays in 4 hours. With 4 people in our party, that meant two of us never touched a reel. I know that is how it goes some days but I was expecting more action. This is only our second charter so now I know have more dialog up front and during the trip if things are not as we expected.  I truly believe John and Hunter would have done their best to get us fish (ex. they asked about heading out of the bay, but I was reluctant to go offshore with the grandkids, so that’s on me). Again, it’s a learning thing. Just talk to the Captain up front about the details and expectations.

We caught 3 sharks! Captain John and his first mate were super cool and family friendly and told us ocean stories. When we weren’t hauling in fish, we talked about all sorts of things ranging from battling great whites to fighting wild attack ponies to video games to game of thrones. Absolutely worth the money. Great way to spend your day

Booked the Morning Trip with Captain John, he was super flexible with the time we got off. He was on time for the dock pick up, plenty of parking at the pick up spot. We did the 3 hour bay fishing, we caught plenty of good size croaker, spot, flounder, sea bass. The Awesome bonus was Captain john using his knowledge to catch us a shark! unbelievable experience. First mate Hunter was great with my 8yo son. Highly recommend these guys, we will be booking again when we are in town.

Captain John and First Mate Bob made such a special trip for us. Very easy going, extremely helpful, and very knowledgeable.  We move around to different spots and were able to catch a bunch of different fish. Our 10 year old had “the best day of his life”.
We will be back next year!

Since this was our first charter trip we did not know what to expect.  John and crew were excellent for this experience.  We did the afternoon shark trip.  They talked us through everything they were doing and why.  Our son had the best time and we would not hesitate to go out again on another trip with them.
