My wife and I went on our first ever fishing boat trip with Captain Ben and it was a fishing trip of a lifetime! We truly could not recommend any experience more than our half-day trip.

Not only did we catch 10+ spanish mackerel, but everything was completely handled flawlessly by the captain. We truly just sat back and enjoyed every minute, completely worry-free.

Whether you are a beginner or advanced, it doesn’t matter, you will be so glad you signed up for this trip and already be looking to book your next trip, I know we already are!

It was everything we had hoped for and more, and there is not a better trip to take in the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area than here with captain Ben!

Captain Ben took my Father in Law, 6 yr. old son and me out for the morning and we had a ton of fun. We had had to cancel our planned afternoon. Trip with him the day before and was really cool about rescheduling so we could get the fishing in before we had to leave town. We did 4 types of fishing in 4 hours. He did great at changing up what we were doing to keep my son interested and engaged. He was super knowledgeable and experienced and made sure we were comfortable and having fun the whole morning. He put us right on spots to keep the action going and we caught a big variety of fish. My son’s already talking about the next trip we take with Captain Ben.

Capt Ben is a yooung, articulate, competent and confident guide who knows the business, the sea, the location of fish, and the effective use of selected fishing gear for desired catches. We spent a half day with him about 15 miles out of Wilmington and had a relaxing, profitable, trip with good company and fishing effectiveness. He is courteous, cheerful and considerate and took particular care to watch over my efforts (at age 85) and he provided a very rewarding birthday celebration, making it look easy in the process. I strongly endorse and recommend his charter service and have full intention to return later in the warmer weather for another go at Atlantic Ocean fishing. We had good company, a good catch, and he even delivered good weather for a date we selected almost a moth in advance. Someone else may have helped with that part. We will join him again soon.

Captain Ben and his assistant Brian are Awesome! Although the weather didn’t cooperate as much as we would have liked, Ben and Brian were absolutely amazing.  Great at finding the fish, talking my son and I through all that was going to happen and treating us to a wonderful experience.  Had some issues with Fishing Booker but absolutely none with Southern Run.  A top trip that you’ll truly enjoy!

It was a great trip.  The trolling was slow so captain Ben switched gears to bottom fishing.  We caught a good amount of black Sea bass and grunts.  Even caught a couple grouperbut they were just a few inches shy of keepers and even though a got sea sick, it was still a fun experience.  Will do this again.
