Overall the boat was clean and the crew was hard working but there was a couple of aspects that kept this from being a 5 star review. First, the not so good….I paid for a 6 hour tour and unfortunately a couple of the the people in our party got pretty sea sick. The waves were a bit rough and we had to call it a couple of hours in. While ultimately, we booked for 6 hours, it would have been nice for some kind of a reduction after only being out for 2 hours. I get it, but it would have been a nice gesture.
The crew was very serious about catching fish, so serious no one introduced themselves, told us about the boat or really spoke to us at all unless we asked questions. It wasn’t until we were nearly back to the docks that anyone carried on a conversation. It was a strange experience. We did manage 3 small mahi at least…The crew seemed reluctant to fillet them for us until we specifically asked about it.
We also ran into issues with the guards letting us into the Puerto Adventerous, the guards refused to let us in, we had to call the owner of the boat who in turn had to send the captain up to get us, it was a was of half an hour. I understand security being tight, but that was a bit ridiculous.
If you can stand the rougher seas and are not there to do anything other than focus on sport fishing (including having a good conversation or even a casual chat) then I can recommend this charter, otherwise, perhaps do a little more research. I wouldn’t recommend this trip for a family.
