We took a chance spending one of our precious New York days out on the water instead of sightseeing, shopping or dining and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our entire trip.

I went fishing with Captain Austin and my two boys (9 and 11 years old), and it was absolutely epic. Austin is not only a master fisherman who knows Jamaica Bay like the back of his hand, but also an incredible teacher and guide, especially with kids. He was patient, kind, and turned every moment into an opportunity for my boys to learn, cast, reel, and have fun.

Everything about the experience was smooth, safe, and unforgettable. The views of Manhattan and Brooklyn from the bay are breathtaking, and the thrill of catching fish made it even better. My kids were beyond excited, and as a parent, watching their faces light up every time they felt a bite is something I’ll never forget.

After all the amazing things we did in New York — Times Square, Central Park, the musicals, shopping — this trip with Austin stands out as the most special moment of our vacation. The service, the attention to detail, the calm atmosphere on the water… it’s simply 100 out of 100.

Unforgettable Fishing Trip – Above and Beyond!

Austin was absolutely amazing! He waited patiently even though we were very late and never made us feel rushed; instead he stayed out late to make sure we got the experience of a lifetime. He went above and beyond to make the trip special—especially for my 8-year-old son, who caught an actual shark! 

Kind, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable, he made the whole experience fun and memorable—complete with offering ice cold water and granola bars he keeps for guests. If you’re looking for the best guide out there, this is the one. Highly recommend!

As a visitor to New York, I wanted something more than city streets and skyscrapers — and Austin Outfitters delivered just that. In just one trip, we caught 15+ fish including beautiful Summer Flounder, and spent a blissful day immersed in nature. Captain Austin is really fantastic! He took me out on a solo adventure which was both memorable and meaningful! He was super supportive, knowledgeable and determined for me to catch some fish! (which I did!)
