We arrived and the captain greeted us but had warned us the fishing was slow. It was unseasonably warm and calm so I get it. He was talking to other captains to game plan. Boat was cleaned and well organized with good equipment. We got out and the captain set up the gear and was positive, a nice guy, and humorous, we all laughed a lot and had a great time. We started to catch fish pretty quickly and caught 3 very nice sized steelhead and 1 smaller one. We hooked into 2 other big fish but they were lost. We did catch another 4-5 small salmon and two were of size to be kept. He immediately released the undersized fish. I would book again and the captain said to come earlier in the year since we were at the tail end of the good season.

Weather to begin the morning was terrible - thunderstorms at dawn. By the time the charter was to begin the weather had cleared from the area. Lake Ontario was a bit choppy but settled as the day progressed. Cloudy to start the day, but the sun came out and the day became pleasant. Captain Kurt, his spouse, and Craig were definitely there to see that we had a productive trip. I would have liked for the trip to have continued into the afternoon. My sons and I were novice fishermen relative to catching King Salmon (the chosen target for the day). Kurt knew where the fish were located and cruised to the site directly. His wife was an excellent teacher and coach. She gave great instructions on how to bring in each fish. Lures were changed often to tempt the warry salmon as Kurt guided the boat through the area where the kings were located at various depths. The captain and crew definitely knew what they were doing from many years of experience. I would greatly enjoy another excursion in the future.

The night prior to our trip Capt. Kurt informed me he had moved the boat a few miles west of its original location in Olcott to be closer to the fish. He also suggested we leave a few hours earlier than scheduled to get in on the likelihood of better fishing. My first mate of 54 years agreed! We left promptly at 6:00am and after a short run north we saw some surface action and mate Craig set up the lines. For the next 11/2 hours we had non stop action, catching a steelhead, a rainbow, 2 coho and the rest of our limit in kings. Kurt and Craig’s attention to detail with the gear and all aspects of the trip was professional and exceeded our expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend him for your next trip.

Captain Kurt is a total pro with extensive experience and knowledge of the target species and which lures to use to catch them. He and his mate Tammy go out of their way to make sure you have a top notch trip in a safe and comfortable environment utilizing first rate equipment .Fish stalker is the only charter that I would utilize in the future while fishing Lake Ontario, and I highly recommend others looking for a first class trip to do the same
We ended up going out with Captain Craig on Cranks Charter. Fishing was light today on the Niagara Bar for us and the other boats around us but I landed a nice, hard fighting 15 lb. Chinook. I’d recommend Captain Craig any time. He’s a personable, hardworking and knowledgeable young man. My wife and I hopeto go fishing with him again next July!
